Frequently asked questions
Why is there no Location History in my new Google Takeout export?
Google moved Timeline onto your phone, so newer Takeout exports don’t include it. Export directly
from your phone instead, or load both a phone export and an older Semantic Location History
folder here.
Is my data uploaded anywhere on this website?
No. Everything stays in your browser. The site downloads map background tiles as you pan and zoom, and counts anonymous page views with cookieless Cloudflare Web Analytics. Your location history, visits, and routes never leave your device.
Why do some places have no name?
Phone exports only record Google Place IDs, not place names. Unnamed places fall back to the nearest city name, and loading an older Takeout archive or renaming places in All Places fills them in.
Does this cost anything?
No, it is completely free, with no subscriptions, paywalls, or email collection.
